“Interruption” - A Suicide Prevention Initiative
Sometimes, all it takes is a moment to interrupt the silence. This Suicide Prevention Month, “Interruption” brings together stories, conversations, community experiences, and messages of hope to encourage people to pause, listen, reach out, and connect. Through every story, conversation, and shared message, we aim to interrupt silence, challenge stigma, and create space for hope.
Suicide prevention begins with creating spaces where people feel safe to speak, listened to without judgement, and supported when they need it the most.
“Interruption” is a Suicide Prevention initiative by Mind and Matter that seeks to create these spaces by encouraging conversations around suicide, mental well-being, hope, and human connection.
“Interruption” is a Suicide Prevention initiative by Mind and Matter that seeks to create these spaces by encouraging conversations around suicide, mental well-being, hope, and human connection.
Throughout Suicide Prevention Month, the initiative brings together a series of activities that approach suicide prevention through storytelling, community engagement, conversations, and shared expressions of hope. Each activity creates an opportunity to pause, listen to different experiences, challenge the silence and stigma surrounding suicide, and encourage people to reach out and support one another.
From community-based engagements and conversations at public spaces, to personal stories shared by individuals, and initiatives such as “Dear You, Stay”, where people can write, read, and respond to notes of hope.
The initiative is rooted in a simple belief: a conversation can create connection, a story can offer hope, and a moment of reaching out can make a difference.
Through “Interruption”, we invite everyone to be part of creating a culture where conversations are not avoided, help-seeking is encouraged, and no one has to feel alone in their difficult moments.
Interrupt the silence. Start the conversation. Choose connection.
